11th Annual Falls International Speed Run Against Cancer – Results
Thunderbird Lodge, Rainy Lake USA
February 16th, 2019

International Falls, MN The 11th Annual Falls International Speed Run Against Cancer was yet another in a long run of successful events at Thunderbird Lodge with the International Voyageurs Snowmobile Club raising over $1300 to be utilized for travel expenses for local cancer patients. Funds were raised through racer registration fees and free will donations.

Over 60 racers from all over the region posted 236 runs down the 1000-foot race track groomed onto the surface of Rainy Lake on Saturday afternoon under near perfect skies in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd at Thunderbird Lodge.

Melody Wald of New Market, MN set a new track record of 130 miles per hour on her 1999 Arctic Cat Thunder Cat winning the Open two-stroke class. Wald was not done yet however, as she also picked up class wins in the 1000cc two-stroke and 800cc classes on an Arctic Cat and Ski-doo respectively. Melody is the first person in the history of the event to post wins in three classes.

2019 Annual Hotdog Roast - Another successful year!

Picture
SNOWMOBILERS HAVE WARM HEARTS
Organizers of International Voyageurs Snowmobile Club’s annual hot dog roast held Feb 2nd were pleasantly surprised. “Actually we are always blown away by the generosity shown by fellow riders” said Jim Bigler, president of IVSC. This started years ago, riders visiting the area and attending our event just started throwing couple bucks in a box in appreciation.  The first year it happened IVSC board decided to match the donations and pay it forward to Falls Hunger Coalition.  Each year this seems to grow. This year Steve Thomopoulos, one of the organizers, presented a check in the amount of $1402.00  Snowmobiling is a cold sport but riders have big hearts!
