Trail Report
3/7/24 - Just a quick update, since we haven't been able to hold any of our normal annual fundraising events this year we had the opportunity to be a part of another event being held at Thunderbird Lodge coming up this weekend. The Ice Chaser Speed Runs will be holding some great races on some of the best ice around.
Come join us on the ice before the races Saturday 3/9 from 11:00 - 1:00 for a FREE WILL donation Hot Dog Roast. This will be in lei of our normal trail roast and annual speed run for cancer. We will be donating all of the proceeds from the hot dog roast to local Food Shelf and The Cancer Walk gas cards. We hope you can make it.
In other news... as you all know, there has been no snow to speak of so there has been no grooming. Its been a sad season for snowmobilers and groomer operators but the guys have been trying to stay busy. They have been waiting on approval to move forward with the enclosed shelter and extra trail work they have planned but as soon as they are able, we will keep their progress posted. The park has closed their trail systems due to the ice and trail conditions so please be aware of these things before going out on the ice. Always check conditions for where you plan to be.
Come join us each month for our club meetings and check for any updates or shared information on our FaceBook page. Have a great spring and fingers crossed for way better conditions next year.
IVSC Trail Report 2/4/24
This is not the kind of report that we want to be making this time of year but as you all know, the weather has not been in our favor at all. For the first time in the 21 years that the Trail Boss has been grooming trails, this is the first time ever that they have not been able to get the groomers out. The trails are icy and very rough due to our lack of snow and warmer weather. Check out our Facebook page for local trail reports and updates with pictures from around the area.
Due to the warm weather, poor trail and lake conditions and our over all lack of snow we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming events. The Annual Hotdog Roast and The Annual Radar Run for Cancer held at Thunderbird Lodge have to be cancelled. It is not a choice we made lightly, there was much discussion involved in the choices made but its just to dangerous for us to hold these events in these conditions.
Even though the groomers have not left the garage the guys have been staying busy with repairs, trail work and many other projects that they normally don't have time for. They have been able to get out and widen some tight corners with plans to do some more of this type of trail work while they can. They also hope to add a new enclosed shelter on the trail if their plans work out the way they are wanting them to. So even though we would much rather be out grooming and riding the trails in our off time, we are taking advantage of the conditions we have been handed.
PLEASE ride with caution!!! Always check local trail and weather reports before you ride. We will keep you updated on the work that gets done.
Get out and find a way to enjoy this unusual winter we are having and hope for a change in mother nature.

Winter Trails ConditionsTrails Report 3/7/2024
At this time all snowmobile trails and ice roads in the park have been closed, and stakes have been removed. Ice conditions near pressure ridges, sand bars, and shorelines are dangerous, please take extra caution if you are in these areas. Park staff will be no longer monitoring ice this season. This has been a particularly challenging winter season for travel on the ice, and we appreciate the patience and good judgment our visitors and local community members have shown. We are hoping for a safe, cold, and snowy winter next year!
